Circle of Mysteries~Closing the Distance
This project is a musical re-voicing of the Passion narrative, told through a trinity of female perspectives—a Modern-Day American Woman, Mary Mother of Jesus, and the Feminine Voice of God. This triptych structure moves the story from a purely historical event to a lived experience that connects ancient tradition with modern struggles. Reframing a 2,000-year-old story into a personal, heart opening, and inclusive dialogue about suffering, authority, and identity.
The production’s emotional and intellectual depth is anchored in two foundational works that bridge the Jewish and Catholic traditions. By weaving together the mystical work of Christin Lore Weber’s Circle of Mysteries with the haunting, cross-cultural resonance of Alisa Fineman’s Closing the Distance, Dawn Flores provides a skeletal framework that transforms a traditional story of sacrifice into a global ritual of divine embodiment.
